\nlearning<\/mark><\/h2><\/div>The technical equipment at the Schiffer-Berufskolleg RHEIN is impressive and meets the latest and most modern requirements, not only in inland navigation. Students can learn in one of Europe’s most modern shallow water driving and radar simulators, which enables realistic practice scenarios on national and international waterways. It allows them to learn to navigate safely, from getting to know the equipment of a modern control station to simple driving maneuvers and behavior in complex or risky situations. We are very proud of the simulator’s first Germany-wide approval as a fully-fledged shallow water driving and radar simulator, which we obtained in September 2024. This enables us to make lessons even more practical and future-oriented \u2013 a decisive advantage for the training of future specialists in inland navigation. Here, our trainees learn to develop their navigation skills in a safe and controlled environment. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
In the engine laboratory, several functional ship engines and rudder systems of various designs are available. This equipment ensures that tomorrow’s specialists can learn, expand or test skills in handling these drives, which are extremely relevant on board, in a practical manner.
Another highlight is the tank ship section, which is equipped with a real loading arm and trains the handling of liquid goods under safe conditions.
Boat building is also not neglected: In the laboratories for wood and metal processing, manual skills in the processing of wood, metal and other materials are taught. This enables us to offer both a well-founded education in inland navigation and in boat and ship building. There are currently only three schools in Germany that offer this specialist area.

The technical equipment at the Schiffer-Berufskolleg RHEIN is impressive and meets the latest and most modern requirements, not only in inland navigation. Students can learn in one of Europe’s most modern shallow water driving and radar simulators, which enables realistic practice scenarios on national and international waterways. It allows them to learn to navigate safely, from getting to know the equipment of a modern control station to simple driving maneuvers and behavior in complex or risky situations. We are very proud of the simulator’s first Germany-wide approval as a fully-fledged shallow water driving and radar simulator, which we obtained in September 2024. This enables us to make lessons even more practical and future-oriented \u2013 a decisive advantage for the training of future specialists in inland navigation. Here, our trainees learn to develop their navigation skills in a safe and controlled environment. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
In the engine laboratory, several functional ship engines and rudder systems of various designs are available. This equipment ensures that tomorrow’s specialists can learn, expand or test skills in handling these drives, which are extremely relevant on board, in a practical manner.
Another highlight is the tank ship section, which is equipped with a real loading arm and trains the handling of liquid goods under safe conditions.
Boat building is also not neglected: In the laboratories for wood and metal processing, manual skills in the processing of wood, metal and other materials are taught. This enables us to offer both a well-founded education in inland navigation and in boat and ship building. There are currently only three schools in Germany that offer this specialist area.
The close relationship between the two training locations, companies and vocational school, and the technical equipment of the Schiffer-Berufskolleg RHEIN create the perfect basis for optimally preparing students for their professional future as part of their vocational school lessons. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
